This policy explains what Poetry by Cotek collects and how it is used. The short version: we collect what we need to run accounts and show poems, we do not sell your data, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers.
What we collect
- Account information — your email address, and the display name and handle you choose.
- Sign-in details — if you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information from that provider; if you use a password, we store only a salted hash, never the password itself.
- Content you create — poems, titles, bios, and related text you submit.
- Usage metrics — aggregate counts such as page and poem views, kept in our own database to understand what resonates. These are counts, not profiles.
Cookies
We use cookies only for essential functions — keeping you signed in and securing forms. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use it
- to operate your account and publish your work;
- to screen and moderate content for policy breaches;
- to secure the Service and prevent abuse;
- to understand aggregate usage and improve the experience.
Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers that help us run the Service — such as our hosting, database, authentication, and email providers — under confidentiality obligations, and when required by law. We do not sell personal data.
Retention
We keep account data while your account is active. Published poems remain until you unpublish or delete them. We may retain limited records after deletion where needed for legal, security, or backup purposes.
Your rights
You can access and correct your account information, export or delete your poems, and delete your account at any time from your settings. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, objection); contact us to exercise them.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will carry a new effective date.
