It's No Sacrifice At All

I was willing to pay the price
I was eager to follow all the commands
The rules and the detailed lines
I was ready to meet all the demands

Freedom was the stake,
and my escape was in place,
Just follow the dos and don'ts;
But I often make mistakes.

The price was heavy
The payment was high
It's no joke; someone had to die;
Shamed and mocked,
Salvation was the why.

It's not a sacrifice
when vanity I had to deny,
To live not as I please
But to live as He wills.

My flesh I had to lose
It's no sacrifice at all.
Just to be born anew
Into His image conformed.

Purged by fire and wind,
My carnality burned on the stake,
Freedom is mine at last to taste,
Then I knew,
It's no sacrifice at all.
